North Korean Nativity -- Underground Christians Dramatize Reason for the Season

COLORADO SPRINGS, Dec. 17, 2013 /Christian Newswire/ -- As Christians around the world prepare to celebrate Christmas, some North Korean defectors remind us about the reason for the season. Attendees of Seoul USA's Underground University recently performed a unique North Korean-style dramatization of the Nativity story.
"These students developed and acted in the play which was performed during Underground University graduation ceremonies," explained Seoul USA's Eric Foley. "It was fascinating to witness their unique interpretation of the traditional Bible account of the birth of Christ."
Underground University is Seoul USA's one-year study program for North Korean defectors, equipping them to serve as missionaries wherever North Koreans are found—from Russia to China to South Korea to North Korea itself.
Video of the UU Nativity play is available for viewing on the Seoul USA web site and on YouTube. It is the first known video of the Christmas story developed and performed by North Korean Christians.
