WASHINGTON, June 18, 2012 /Standard Newswire/ -- The Reverend Rob Schenck (pronounced Shank) one of the few evangelical Christian leaders to attend the Supreme Court oral argument over the health care law in March, will be available for comment immediately after the Court files its opinion, which could be as early as today.
Rev. Schenck is president of the National Clergy Council in Washington, DC, which registered its objection to the recent mandate that religious groups comply with the plan by hand-delivering a resolution to the White House. The members of the Council, which represent Catholic, Evangelical, Orthodox, and Protestant church leaders believe the mandate violates their rights of conscience, their religious freedom, and the Constitution.
Rev. Schenck is also chairman of the Committee on Church and Society for the Evangelical Church Alliance, one of America's oldest associations of independent evangelical pastors, religious executives, and military chaplains. He has served for the last 18 years on Capitol Hill as a commissioned minister to elected and appointed officials.
