Personhood PAC Calls on Ken Buck to Withdraw from Race in Fourth Congressional District

Contact: Jennifer Mason, Spokesperson, Personhood PAC, 303-803-0598

DENVER, April 7, 2014 /Standard Newswire/ -- The Personhood Political Action Committee is calling on Ken Buck to withdraw from the Primary race for CD4, citing instances of failure to uphold family values and failure to protect Colorado citizens.

Announcing his support for a pro-life Personhood Amendment in 2010, Buck enjoyed the votes of pro-Personhood voters in the Republican Primary, then flip-flopped his position after he was the official candidate for U.S. Senate. Personhood is part of the Republican Party platform and supported by Republicans nationwide.

Colorado's Personhood Amendments have not in any way given any protections to eggs, nor banned contraception, yet Ken Buck's claims to the contrary have taken a page from Planned Parenthood's scare tactics about Personhood.

In 2010, the Democrats wanted to smear Ken Buck and cause him to lose votes, and Ken Buck played right into their hands. Outrageously false claims about Personhood pulled Ken Buck into denying the Republican Party platform, which cost him conservative votes. Buck never stood a chance of winning over votes from Democrats, so of course his opponent won. Now the Democrats in Colorado are playing the same game: lure Buck and other Republicans into denying their Republican roots, lose voters, and lose elections. It's a win-win for Udall and the Democrats, and utter lunacy for Ken Buck and others who have followed his lead.

Ken Buck's flip-flop and deliberate spread of misinformation about Personhood has caused a copycat affect in Congressman Cory Gardner and Congressman Mike Coffman, who have flip-flopped on their support of Personhood, while parroting false information about it.

To set the record straight, it is 100% certain that the Personhood Amendment cannot ban contraception, and that the Amendment simply declares that every living human being is a person. Buck's flip-flop on protecting innocent human life through Personhood really only shows that he's bought into the lies told by the Democrats and is not the conservative man of values that many were led to believe he is.

Just a few years ago, Ken Buck abused his role as District Attorney to illegally search, seize, and retain the personal records of innocent Colorado residents, which resulted in a major lawsuit. After he lost in court, Colorado taxpayers had to pay well over a quarter of a million dollars for Buck's illegal actions. Ken Buck has proven himself unworthy to serve in public office not only because of his shameful mischaracterization of the Personhood Amendment, but also because he was found guilty by the Colorado Supreme Court for violating the Constitution.

There are other tried and true conservative Republican candidates in CD4, who do not have political losses, flip-flopping on key issues, and illegal activities behind their names. It's time those individuals are considered for that office instead of Ken Buck.
