Elkin Arredondo, Noted Leader in Social Innovation, Social Impact and Latino Initiatives, Joins Nation's Premier Adult Learning Organization

Contact: Fritz Schneider, 301-728-4811

CHICAGO, Ill., Aug. 18, 2015 /Standard Newswire/ -- Elkin Arredondo, noted leader in social innovation, social impact, and Latino initiatives, is joining the Council for Adult and Experiential Learning (CAEL) as Vice President of LearningCounts, Pamela Tate, CEO and President of CAEL said today. "Elkin brings unique skills and experiences to this newly created position at CAEL; we're all so proud that he agreed to join us and we're eager for the new perspectives he will bring to our team and array of services," said Tate.

In discussing Elkin's background and role, Tate said, "Elkin spent nearly ten years in several leadership roles in education and business services for companies like Kaplan, New Futuro and Princeton Review where he built alliances and developed strategies to bring economic and educational opportunities to working class families."

In his leadership role at New Futuro, Elkin brought together over 300 multi-sector partners to help Latino families believe and achieve their dreams through education. Partners included Teach for America, the United States Department of Education, the Mexican Consulate, the Colombian Consulate, and ACT, among others. He has presented at national conferences and media networks like CNN En Español, NBC, Univision and Telemundo.

As Vice President of LearningCounts, Elkin will grow student enrollments, lead LearningCounts strategic and tactical plans, and conduct outreach activities to colleges, state systems of higher education, national higher educational organizations, the military, workforce agencies, and businesses. He will also draw on his skilled background to build relationships with partners in the field of prior learning and adult learning and explore areas for collaboration.

Said Elkin, "I'm terrifically honored and excited to become part of the CAEL team and to help expand the scope of LearningCounts, the nation's best tool for helping adults get college credit for what they already know. Not all college-level learning takes place in the classroom, and through LearningCounts, we can help adult learners earn college credit by demonstrating their expertise from career, military, or volunteer service with Learning Portfolios."

Elkin has a bachelor's and master's degrees in business from Florida International University. He is originally from Colombia and lives with his wife Margarita in Chicago.
