ARLINGTON, Va., June 7 /Standard Newswire/ -- The 2006 International CES®, the world’s premier industry event for consumer technology, topped the latest Tradeshow Week 200 list as the largest annual tradeshow in the United States and Canada for the sixth consecutive year. The 2006 International CES ran January 5-8, 2006, in Las Vegas, Nevada, and the 2007 International CES celebrated its 40th anniversary in Las Vegas January 8-11, 2007.

“Having the International CES ranked at the top of the Tradeshow Week 200 list for the sixth year in a row is an incredible honor and a true testament to the dynamic growth of the global consumer electronics industry,” said Gary Shapiro, president and CEO of the Consumer Electronics Association (CEA)®, producer of the International CES. “We showcase and produce several major shows-within-a-show at CES for all technology sectors including audio, content, digital imaging, IT, home theater and wireless. This ranking reinforces the International CES as the must-attend global event for all communities within the consumer technology industry.”

"We experienced phenomenal success at the 2006 International CES that we leveraged with an even more successful 2007 show,” said Karen Chupka, senior vice president of events and conferences, CEA. “The successful addition of the Sands in 2006 fueled an additional expansion to The Venetian in 2007, which housed the high-performance audio and home theater markets, as well as all CES keynotes. As our industry continues to expand, introducing new cutting-edge technology and products, we look forward to the 2008 International CES serving as the global launch pad for consumer technology.”

CEA recently released the final attendance numbers for the 2007 International CES, verified by an independent audit conducted by VERIS Consulting. A record-setting 27,000 plus international visitors brought overall attendance to more than 140,000 industry professionals. International attendees, representing more than 140 countries, increased by more than five percent over 2006. A total of 48 formal delegations attended CES in 2007, including six delegations in attendance for the first time from Australia, Dominican Republic, United Arab Emirates, Germany, Morocco and Peru.

With the addition of CES’ newest venue, The Venetian, total exhibit space reached an all-time high for the 2007 International CES. More than 2,700 exhibitors showcased their wares across a record breaking 1.8 million net square feet of space.

The 2008 International CES will be held in Las Vegas January 7-10 at the Las Vegas Convention Center/Las Vegas Hilton and the Sands Expo and Convention Center/The Venetian. Pre-show events will begin on Saturday, January 5 with CES Unveiled: The Official Press Event of the International CES.
