AUSTIN, Texas, Sept. 30, 2019 /Standard Newswire/ -- The Source, a nonprofit organization, today announced a new network of women's health clinics across the state of Texas that will provide free and low-cost healthcare to clients in the major metro areas of Austin, Dallas, Houston and San Antonio. Eight clinics will be joining together to provide these women's health services.

"There is a huge void in women's healthcare in Texas. Our state is unfortunately among the leaders in both maternal mortality rates and unplanned pregnancies," said Andy Schoonover, CEO of The Source. "We are creating this network so that every woman in Texas has a safe place to express her healthcare concerns and get the care and attention she deserves."

Over the next six months, the network will expand existing services to bring clients an extensive portfolio of women's healthcare services including prenatal exams, cancer screenings, well-woman exams, contraception education and medical support, STD/STI testing and treatment, pregnancy tests, and ultrasounds.

"I'm excited to be involved as a Board Member at The Source," said Ingrid Skop, M.D., F.A.C.O.G. "The Source was created for a cause that I wholeheartedly support; giving all women in the state of Texas access to free or very affordable, high-quality, whole-person reproductive healthcare. I believe this network will be very effective in taking a proactive approach to reducing unplanned pregnancies."

In addition to healthcare related services, The Source will provide material and financial assistance for families with young children in need. The clinics will assist women who do not have health insurance and will offer mental health support as well as reproductive and parenting education.

The Source is embarking upon a $20 million capital campaign to build and/or merge with 20 additional clinics over the next five years to give every woman in Texas better options for her healthcare needs.
