NEW YORK, Jan. 10, 2011 /Standard Newswire/ -- New York Encounter is an annual four-day public cultural festival, organized by Communion and Liberation, the Roman Catholic Movement founded by the late Msgr. Luigi Giussani, and Crossroads Cultural Center. New York Encounter intends to offer to a large audience opportunities for education, dialogue, and friendship through conferences, artistic performances, and exhibits. This year it will take place at the Manhattan Center, 581 8th Avenue at 34th Street, from January 14 through January 17, 2011. Below the major events:

Friday, January 14, 2011
- 7:00pm, opening keynote speech by John Garvey, President of The Catholic University of America, on "Education and freedom in contemporary America"

Saturday, January 15, 2011
- At 3:15pm Jérôme Lejeune: A True Scientist. The life and work of the great geneticist and doctor. - At 8:00pm "The Tidings Brought to Mary," a special performance of the Paul Claudel play by the Blackfriars Repertory Theater and the Storm Theater.
