Evangelist Alveda King: Today is My Birthday

Contact: Leslie Palma, 732-757-9087

ATLANTA, Jan. 22, 2019 /Standard Newswire/ -- The following is submitted by Evangelist Alveda King:

Yesterday we celebrated MLK's birthday. Several candidates announced a presidential bid yesterday. Most if not all of those candidates are pro-abortion. Today is my birthday.

Today is also the anniversary of the horribly bad Roe v. Wade legislation which become law in 1973.

I'm not marching for life today. We did that last Saturday at the annual March for Life where I was blessed to do the closing prayer. However, I am praying; and blogging.

Don't be fooled y'all. Abortion is "a pig in a poke." (Means something that is bought or accepted without knowing its value or seeing it first; an old fashioned saying from a 68 year old woman. Indulge me.)

Today, on my birthday, I'm praying for God to end the scourge of crimes against humanity with abortion at the top of the list. Today I'm not judging anyone. I'm just praying. Why? Because I'm post abortive; repentant and redeemed.

I can't help wondering how long we will have to deal with the dichotomy of killing innocent babies in the womb (and often maiming their mothers in the process) and calling it good?

Meanwhile, we are fighting over a wall.

Actually building a security wall to assist in protecting American citizens as well as serving innocent immigrants seeking a better life is a good idea. That wall is a practicality.

On the other hand, tearing down the walls of hatred and bigotry in our hearts; that's also a good idea. After all, we are not separate races; we are not color blind. We are one blood, one human race. [Acts 17:26]

While yesterday some candidates cited MLK as inspiration for running for president in 2020, they seem to forget that MLK was a prophet and Bible preacher. To use his name and then promote abortion (as some if not all of those candidates do) and other crimes against humanity is contradictory.

During this season I often share LET FREEDOM RING. It's a song I wrote in 1973, the year Roe v. Wade emerged to wreak havoc resulting in the deaths of over 60 million babies in the ensuing years.

Today is my birthday y'all. Pray with me that God will let justice run down as waters, and righteousness as a mighty stream. [Amos 5:24] LET FREEDOM RING.
