ROCKVILLE, Md., June 1, 2014 /Standard Newswire/ -- During the second leg of a three-day official visit to Tunisia, His Majesty the King Mohammed VI received this Saturday at the Royal residence in Tunis, the head of the Tunisian government, Mr. Mehdi Jomaa.
Moreover, His Majesty the King Mohammed VI accompanied by HRH Crown Prince Moulay El Hassan and HRH Prince Moulay Rachid, held a meeting at the headquarters of the Tunisian National Constituent Assembly, with Speaker of the Assembly, Mr. Mustapha Ben Jaafar.
In His speech delivered at the Tunisian national constituent assembly, the Sovereign said reforms "together with the unanimous rejection of all forms of extremism, violence and terrorism" are the best means to "meet the legitimate aspirations of the Tunisian people for freedom, democracy, dignity and social justice."
These efforts will help to meet the legitimate aspirations of the Tunisian people for "freedom, democracy, dignity and social justice within the framework of the country's national sovereignty and territorial integrity," pointed out HM the King who also expressed pleasure to address the Assembly, "which symbolizes the new Tunisia."
Commending the untiring efforts made by the Assembly's President and its members, as well as the spirit of positive compromise which has yielded "a forward-looking Constitution," HM the King expressed appreciation for "the important role played by His Excellency President Moncef Marzouki as well as Prime Minister Mehdi Jomâa."
The Sovereign further commended "the active involvement of all of the Tunisian nation's forces in the national dialogue to ensure the success of the democratic transition process."

On the same day, His Majesty the King Mohammed VI, who was accompanied by HRH Crown Prince Moulay El Hassan, and HRH Prince Moulay Rachid, also paid respect at the martyrs cemetery in Sijoumi, on the outskirts of Tunis.
On Saturday evening, The Sovereign, who is accompanied by HRH Crown Prince Moulay El Hassan and HRH Prince Moulay Rachid, was welcomed at the presidential palace by the Tunisian head of state.
On this occasion, HM the King awarded to the Tunisian president the "Wissam El Mohammadi" distinction. On his part, President Marzouki extended to the Sovereign the special Grand Cordon of the Republic distinction. The Tunisian president also awarded to HRH the Crown Prince the Grand Order of the Republic Order and to HRH Prince Moulay Rachid the Grand Order of the Republic Order.
