MIDLAND, Texas, Oct. 15 /Standard Newswire/ -- China Aid Association President Bob Fu was invited to participate the Global Leadership Forum sponsored by National Association for Evangelicals(NAE) and Mical Challenge on October 11-12, 2007 at Washington DC. More than 220 Christian leaders from all over the world attended the conference held at Sheraton Crystal City Hotel. The international evangelical community for the first time gathered together to discuss issues such as poverty, hunger, human smuggling, AIDs epidemic, torture, environmental protection and North Korean refugees in China. UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon was invited as the key-note speaker for opening ceremony in the evening of October 11. He invited international faith community including evangelicals to join him to address these critical issues facing human beings. Before the conference opening, Rev. Bob Fu talked with Mr. Ban Ki-moon briefly and thanked him for his effort on religious freedom and human rights issues in China. Bob Fu urges the Chinese government to recognize the more than 200,000 North Korea freedom seekers as "refugees" as defined and mandated by the UN and help resettle them to a safe third country without forcefully repatriating them. Many of the refugees were sentenced to death or labor camps once they were sent back by the Chinese authority because China only categorizes them as 'economic migrants.'"

Meanwhile, on October 12, Rev. Bob Fu was interviewed at the Washington DC studio of Christian Broadcast Network (CBN) regarding the issue of whether Christians in China have sufficient bibles or not. According to Ned Graham (younger son of Evangelist Billy Graham), president of East Gates Ministries, "there is absolutely no need to smuggle bibles into China any more" because the Chinese government and Ned Graham's ministries have printed 43 million copies of bibles in the past already. However, Rev. Fu stated that simple math would reveal the shortage is still real given the number of Christians and her rapid growth today (conservatively estimated 80 million).
