The Conservative Movement is Not Dead - It is Alive and Growing More than Ever

Contact: Liberty Counsel Public Relations Department, 800-671-1776

LYNCHBURG, VA, Jan. 21 /Standard Newswire/ -- Today on Liberty Live, Liberty University Chancellor and CEO, Jerry Falwell Jr., will talk about the conservative movement. His article, "Don't Play Dead," appears in this month's edition of Charisma Magazine. Don Wildmon, the Founder of the American Family Association (AFA), will also join Falwell to discuss rebuilding the conservative movement.

Writing in response to an op-ed entitled "Religious Right R.I.P.", Falwell wrote, "This isn't the first time conservative Christians have been dismissed as dearly departed. Yet we continue to resurface as a political force because God is still at work in the hearts of His people." After describing how his father, Dr. Jerry Falwell, became involved in politics "to keep the left from imposing its values on them and their children," he concludes by saying, "Conservative Christians were largely responsible for Reagan's winning the presidency and changing the course of our nation three decades ago. We must change the political climate again, no matter how many critics are ready to erect our tombstones."

Liberty University is the largest and fastest-growing university in the world, with 11,300 residential students and nearly 39,000 students online. The law school has one of the highest bar pass rates in the Nation, and the university's debate team dominates every school in the Nation. Liberty is planning to launch undergraduate, graduate, and certificate programs in public policy, which will train leaders in public policy and prepare them to run for public office.

Like Falwell, Don Wildmon, Founder of AFA, is focused on building the conservative movement. AFA and Liberty are partnering together to organize and train a new generation of world leaders. AFA has the largest grassroots conservative email list in the world. AFA.net, AFR.net, and OneNewsNow.net are some of the most frequently visited web sites in the world.

Mathew Staver, Founder of Liberty Counsel and Dean of Liberty University School of Law, commented, "The future of the conservative movement is brighter than ever. If anyone thinks for a moment that the conservative movement is dead, they must not be living on this planet."

Liberty Live is an interactive radio program debuting this week on 137 radio stations of American Family Radio's new AFR Talk network from 4:00 to 5:00 p.m. ET Monday through Friday. Liberty Live is simulcast on AFR.net, with video and an interactive blog. Staver hosts the program and is joined by co-host Matt Barber.
