Government gives $100,000 to gay group for schoolchildren to become "youth activists"

WASHINGTON, Oct. 18, 2012 /Standard Newswire/ -- In a letter to the Centers for Disease Control (CDC), Parents and Friends of Ex-Gays & Gays (PFOX) is asking President Obama's administration to stop promoting websites of organizations and publications that denigrate Christian ex-gay ministries and former homosexuals.

The CDC's website, "Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender Health Youth Sources" at www.cdc.gov/lgbthealth/youth-resources.htm#friends links to gay activist organizations and homosexual resources for youth and parents, but fails to include links to organizations or resources for parents who do not affirm homosexual behavior, or for youth with unwanted same-sex attractions.

The CDC links include:

gsanetwork.org/what-we-do/transforming-schools -- "GSA Network's 5 campaigns to Change Your School empower youth activists to create changes that will transform schools for generations to come." The CDC gave away over $100,000 in taxpayer money to fund this homosexual/transvestite "youth activist" program.

"How do these links 'meet scientific standards supported by published, evidence-based studies,' as the CDC claims?" asked Regina Griggs, PFOX's executive director.

"The CDC's link to Trevor Space: News and Networking describes itself as 'a social networking site for lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and questioning youth ages 13 through 24.' What is scientific about this?"

"The federal government website also contains links to anti-ex-gay organizations, such as PFLAG, which openly denigrates former homosexuals, and the anti-ex-gay publication Just the Facts, which advocates against Christian ex-gay ministries and only lists religious organizations that affirm homosexual behavior."

"Why is the federal government spreading intolerance against the ex-gay community and Christians who support the religious testimony of former homosexuals?" said Griggs.

"PFOX asks CDC Director Thomas Frieden to adopt the standards utilized by the Office of Adolescent Health, Department of Health and Human Services, and provide website links that are factually oriented, relevant to adolescent health, non-partisan, free from bias and predjudice, and do not take an advocacy position."

"The CDC's current list of links does not provide complete factual information to youth and parents, and sends the wrong message that unpopular sexual minorities like former homosexuals are not entitled to safety or respect. The CDC is engaging in sexual orientation bias against disfavored groups. As concerned parents, we ask President Obama, who appointed Thomas Frieden, and HHS Secretary Kathleen Sebelius, to intervene."
