Throughout the day, millions gathered at tens of thousands of local prayer gatherings held in all 50 states and U.S. territories, stretching from Maine to the Pacific Islands. Together, these sacred assemblies lifted prayers of repentance, thanksgiving, intercession, and hope, answering the 2025 call to “Pour Out to the God of Hope and Be Filled,” based on Romans 15:13.

“We are rejoicing in all that God has done!” said Kathy Branzell, President of the National Day of Prayer Task Force. “We have seen hearts stirred, lives changed, and unity strengthened as we humbled ourselves before the Lord together. And we’re not done yet. We invite every believer to continue to Pour Out to the God of Hope and Be Filled—because hope is not a feeling, it’s a Person: Jesus.” As we move forward, we do so in joyful, confident expectation—knowing that God hears and answers the prayers of His people. May the outpouring of May 1st become a springboard for ongoing revival and awakening in homes, churches, and communities across this land.”

About the National Day of Prayer:
The tradition of proclaiming a National Day of Prayer predates the founding of the United States of America, evidenced by the Continental Congress’ proclamation in 1775 setting aside a day of prayer. In 1952, Congress established, in our public law, an annual day of prayer, and in 1988, that law was amended, designating the National Day of Prayer as the first Thursday in May.
