NEW YORK, Aug. 14, 2014 /Standard Newswire/ -- These organizations have been virtually silent in speaking out against the violence and barbarism against Iraqi women by the terrorist group ISIS.

A coalition of women's faith leaders and activists to hold a protest outside of the New York City Headquarters of the National Organization for Women on Friday, August 15, at 12:00 P.M.

The location of the demonstration is 150 West 28th St.  New York, New York.

After a 12:00 P.M. news conference, the group will attempt to meet with the National Organization for Women and challenge them to speak up and stand in solidarity with their sisters in Iraq.

American feminist groups are demeaning and diminishing the plight of the women of Iraq by using the term, "War on Women," in such a trivial, shallow and self-focused way.

The "Real War on Women," looks like Iraqi women being raped, beaten, beheaded, mutilated, imprisoned, sold into slavery and trafficked rather than what the National Organization calls the "War on Women."  That is, companies not providing abortion-inducing drugs and contraceptives in their health care plans.

Katie Mahoney, who was recently arrested in front of the White House leading a demonstration in support of the women of Iraq and is the Director of Communications for the Washington, D.C. based Christian Defense Coalition, states;

"Where is the National Organization for Women with respect to the women of Iraq now?  Why aren't you speaking up on behalf of these women who are being brutalized and subjected to the worst kinds of violence?

"The most fundamental rights that women need are the dignity and freedom to live equally as human beings, safe from the notion that we can be owned to be used at the will of another.  Women need to be free from second class, subhuman status and free from violation and the unspeakable crimes against them. This is 'The Real War on Women.'

"No cultural mores, no religious mandates or political stance can ever justify this appalling breach of the protection and value of all women that we are currently watching unfold before our very eyes in Iraq.

"The shameful silence  by the National Organization for Women and other American feminist groups, makes one question their commitment to women and human rights and wonder out loud...why are you silent?

"Perhaps if ISIS had just denied Iraqi women contraceptives or abortion inducing drugs instead of raping and brutalizing them, the National Organization for Women might be more inclined to speak out and become engaged."
