Sports Minister: Homosexuals and Atheists to Work Together to Stop Christian Non-Profits
Contact: 4 WINDS, 608-469-7956

MADISON, Wis., June 29, 2015 /Standard Newswire/ -- The Supreme Court approved same-sex marriage last week. In April, the IRS reached an agreement with the Freedom From Religion (FFR) atheist group from Madison, Wisconsin to monitor the pulpits of churches.

Those documents between the IRS and Freedom From Religion have never been released to the public. For example, FFR asked the IRS to sanction the Billy Graham ministry for a newspaper ad urging voters to vote morally.

"In the future, you will see increasing pressure on non-profits and churches throughout the United States as atheist organizations and homosexual activists go after Christian free speech," states 4 Winds Christian Athletics President Steve McConkey. "There will be so many lawsuits that Christian free speech will be limited. How long the church can stay above ground is debatable, but ministries should be ready."

In 2003, Steve McConkey took on the International Olympic Committee for allowing transgender athletes in the Olympics. During the last few years, he has been the only sports minister publicly taking on the International Olympic Committee, US Olympic Committee, NCAA, and Bruce Jenner for their gay policies.

On Sunday, Time magazine editor-at-large Mark Oppenheimer wrote that Christian non-profits, including churches, that do not agree with homosexuality should lose their tax-exempt status.

"Homosexuality is one of many sins, but the danger is that immorality is being legalized, just like abortion in 1973," says McConkey. "Jesus Christ can forgive people if they turn from their sins and ask Christ into their lives. However, people need to know they cannot save themselves by good works. You cannot swim to Hawaii from California. In the same way, we need to cry out to the Lord."

Steve McConkey is the President of 4 Winds Christian Athletics (4 WINDS). Steve and his wife started working with world-class track and field athletes in 1981. 4 WINDS was formed in 1988 and expanded to all sports in 2014, changing its emphasis to defending the Christian faith. Steve regularly appears on worldwide radio and is frequently quoted in articles throughout the world. He has a Master of Public Health from Western Kentucky University and a BS-Public Health from Minnesota State University, both with honors. Steve was born in Des Moines, Iowa, but moved to NW Wisconsin after the sixth grade and became a Christian in 1976 after reading the New Testament while in college. 4 WINDS produces BigPlanetWatch.com, a news-apologetics site.
