WASHINGTON, June 27, 2013 /Standard Newswire/ -- Reacting to the Supreme Court decision in United States v. Windsor, striking down the federal Defense of Marriage Act (DOMA) of 1996, Vision America Action President Dr. Rick Scarborough declared: "The definition of marriage is not within the purview of the United States Supreme Court, or any other court, for that matter. God defines marriage. Governments either conform to His will or ignore it -- at their very great peril."

Scarborough continued: "Throughout the course of millennia of Western Civilization, marriage has been defined as the union of a man and a woman. In recent years, 38 states have amended their constitutions, most by popular vote, to endorse that definition, which happens to be the only definition that makes sense -- morally or biologically."

"This nation was founded by Christians on a Biblical worldview," Scarborough pointed out. "The Declaration of Independence -- America's founding document -- acknowledges that rights come from God. Men 'marrying' men and women 'marrying' women isn't among those rights -- regardless of what any court or legislature or politician or opinion poll says!"

Scarborough concluded: "The anti-family left may think it's won an historic victory here. That could not be further from the truth. With its latest illegitimate decision, the Supreme Court will only succeed in renewing the commitment of defenders of marriage and the family, and causing our ranks to swell."
