WASHINGTON, May 1, 2025 /Standard Newswire/ -- Members of the Committee on the Present Danger: China (CPDC), the Save the Persecuted Christians (STPC) coalition and other freedom-fighters launched today an initiative aimed at exposing and ending an appalling and closely held agreement between the Vatican and the Chinese Communist Party. The “Repeal the Deal” Campaign is designed to educate the cardinals, the bishops, the faithful, and the world about the ongoing damage being done pursuant to and in the wake of that Secret Deal.
The Campaign kicked off with an April 30th webinar sponsored by the CPDC and STPC coalitions, intended to foster a public outcry in the run-up to the Conclave called to select the next Pope, starting on May 7th. As awareness grows about the Deal’s truly troubling character and its repercussions for Catholics and other denominations and faiths, the Campaign will press every candidate seeking to become the next pontiff to condemn the Deal and commit to making its repeal a first order of business. By the start of the Conclave, repudiation of the Deal should be a factor in selecting the next pope – and a priority for the Church in its aftermath.
The need for such a repudiation is underscored by the CCP’s contemptuous announcement yesterday – even as cardinals were meeting in Rome in preparation for the Conclave – that Beijing had appointed two more Chinese bishops without any consultation with the Vatican – an overt flouting of the stated purpose of the Deal.
The Repeal the Deal Campaign plans to illuminate in greater detail over the next six days: the Deal’s betrayal of the Church, the faithful and the clergy; its horrific impact on other faith communities; the vast damage inflicted by the Deal’s legitimizing of the CCP’s “Sinicizing” of the Church in China; and whether the secret Deal constitutes heresy.
The Campaign’s RepealtheDeal.org website features vehicles for Americans and others around the globe to express their opposition to the Vatican’s secret deal with the CCP and insist that the contents of this toxic pact be revealed and that it be repealed, if not before the Conclave, then by any pope it elects.
