Annual Live Nativity to be Staged in Front of Supreme Court and US Capitol

WASHINGTON, Dec. 2, 2013 /Standard Newswire/ -- Faith and Action, a Christian outreach to top elected and appointed officials in Washington, DC, will stage its annual Live Nativity on Capitol Hill, with stops in front of the Supreme Court and US Capitol buildings, tomorrow morning, Tuesday, December 3, at 10:00 AM to approximately 11:00 AM.

 

The procession of costumed actors and live animals, including a camel, donkey, and sheep, will begin at the Faith and Action ministry center, located immediately behind the Supreme Court at 109 2nd St, NE, Washington, DC 20002, and continue north on the east side of 2nd Street, cross Maryland Avenue to Constitution Avenue, continue west along the north side of Constitution, turn left, or south at First Street, continue south on the east side of First, pause momentarily in front of the Court, then continue until the Capitol Dome is visible behind the procession, passing the Library of Congress Jefferson Building and making a left onto Independence / Pennsylvania Avenue where we proceed east, then a left onto 2nd Street heading north returning to 109 2nd Street, where it will come to rest in a living tableau of the Bethlehem scene in the Faith and Action ministry center garden.

 

Police officers on bicycles, foot, and in vehicles will escort the group for safety purposes.

 

The Reverends Rob Schenck, Patrick J. Mahoney and other clergy will preside. Rev. Schenck will read portions of the account of the first Christmas from the Gospel of St. Luke along the processional route. Gospel recording artist Nathan Kistler of Connelly Springs, North Carolina, will perform at the beginning and the end of the program.
