ALEXANDRIA, Va., July 12, 2025 /Standard Newswire/ — Anglican Watch, the unofficial watchdog for the Episcopal Church, has received a threatening email communication containing anti-Semitic content. A review of forensic data suggests the sender is the head of security for St. Thomas’ Fifth Avenue, a flagship Anglo-Catholic parish in the Episcopal Church. A screen cap of the message is on the Anglican Watch website.
”We will not be intimidated,” states Anglican Watch official Eric Bonetti. “Moreover, we reject anti-Semitism in any form.”
In response to the threats, Anglican Watch forwarded the message to St. Thomas and Diocese of New York officials, the Anti-Defamation League, and relevant local law enforcement organizations.
”The threats appear to be in response to our adverse coverage of security issues at St. Thomas Fifth Avenue, including two employees with felony convictions that involve children,” Bonetti adds.
“Further, we have identified multiple incidents of sexual harassment, sexual assault and battery, pornography, and other issues connected with the church, all of which suggest this is a church with a toxic, narcissistic culture and profound boundary issues,” Bonetti concludes.
Anglican Watch is the unofficial watchdog of the Episcopal Church and addresses sexual and non-sexual abuse in various faith communities. Founded in 2015, the organization is online at www.anglicanwatch.com.
