3-D Movies Take Theatrical Entertainment by Storm

Contact: Michelle Miller, Grizzly Adams Productions, 970-690-7302, Michelle@grizzlyadams.tv

LOVELAND, CO, Aug. 11 /Standard Newswire/ -- Entertainment industry analysts are projecting 3-D movies will soon be adding $1 billion to box office revenues.  Driven by 3-D, 2008 saw a 33 percent year-to-year rise in the number of digital screens available worldwide. Some movie analysts are forecasting that within 24 months, theatrical "total gross" revenues will be split 75 percent for 3-D and 25 percent for 2-D venues.

Responding to this industry change, Grizzly Adams Productions announces that its most honored film in its 35 year history with 28 awards is about to enter the 3-D revolution, according to Charles E. Sellier, the company's founder and CEO. San Diego-based PassmoreLab, a state-of-the-art multi-media production studio that specializes in 2D to 3D content conversion, is currently working on re-mastering Friends for Life for 3-D theatrical exhibition.

"We created Friends for Life so the whole family can sit and enjoy a redeeming, life-affirming film together in 3-D," Sellier explains, whose company is the first non-studio independent producer to move into 3-D theatrical movies.  "The 3-D process has proven especially popular with kids and family-oriented films are the perfect vehicle."

Greg Passmore, president of the company that bears his name, observes, "The difference is like night and day. Today's 3-D experience, is sharp, crisp, clean, realistic, and very enjoyable. PassmoreLab employs leading edge technology to insure Friends for Life is not just a 3-D movie, but an immersive and engaging experience that can be enjoyed as if you were actually standing in the woods with the animal characters."

Passmore adds, "This story of wolf pups, grizzly bears, and a family coming together is targeted specifically to our prime demographic."

A story about life, death, and the critical importance of friends, Friends for Life tells the story of a retired big city attorney living in a small mountain town, who suffers loneliness after the death of his wife. One day in the woods near his home, he discovers four orphaned wolf pups that face certain death without his help.  He takes in the pups and nurtures them until they are old enough to go back into the wild. Again out in the woods, he is attacked by a grizzly bear only to be saved by the reappearance of the wolves.

In keeping with previous Grizzly Adams films and television shows, Friends which has won 28 national and international festival and competition awards, uses animals in the wild to tell a story of human hope, courage, and determination.

The 3-D version of Friends for Life will be completed this fall and will be available for worldwide theatrical release in early 2010.

Grizzly Adams Productions, named after its long-running NBC Network TV series The Life and Times of Grizzly Adams, produces network "Sweeps" TV specials and series for the major networks and cable channels. Eleven of the company's theatrical films are still among the top 100 all-time independent grossing films, with six of those releases ranking in the top 25.
