DALLAS, May 13, 2025 /Standard Newswire/ -- A new book of prayers and poems for Black women is here, and it’s not just a book—it’s a lifeline, a sanctuary, and a call to speak to God from the deepest parts of our hearts. When We Talk to God: Prayers and Poems for Black Women by Sharifa Stevens, poet and theologian, is a beautifully crafted collection that captures the highs and lows, the celebrations and sorrows, of the Black woman’s journey with grace, rawness, and spiritual power.

In this soul-stirring volume, Stevens provides a unique blend of poetry, prayer, and artwork—an invitation for Black women to approach God in every season of life. Whether you're experiencing joy and gratitude, loss and longing, or those moments when words fall short, When We Talk to God speaks directly to your heart.

This book is an empowering reminder that there is no "wrong" way to pray—no limits to what we can bring before God. Through Stevens' personal experiences, vivid biblical references, and evocative imagery, readers are encouraged to bring their whole selves to God. From the groans of the heart to the loudest praises, every emotion is welcomed, honored, and heard.

“Black women deserve to know they have a space where their prayers, longings, and dreams can be expressed freely, honestly, and unapologetically,” Stevens says. “In When We Talk to God, I wanted to create something that speaks to all of who we are—our struggles, our victories, and the grace we carry in every step.”

When We Talk to God invites you to bring your full heart before the Creator, without reservation. It is a poetic journey that speaks to the beauty, complexity, and strength of Black womanhood, offering words of comfort, hope, and empowerment.
