Abortionist Bruce Norman Claims a Fourth Victim; Emergency Press Conference Calls for Judge to Shut Him Down

Contact: Rev. Terry Gensemer, CEC For Life, 205-253-0159

MONTGOMERY, Ala., Aug. 8, 2013 /Standard Newswire/ -- To raise vital awareness of yesterday's incident in Jackson, MS, CEC For Life and other state and national pro-life groups will hold an emergency press conference today, Aug 8, at 12 Noon, in front of the Alabama Department of Public Health in Montgomery, Alabama.

On Wednesday, August 7, a victim of abortionist Bruce Norman was rushed to the hospital by ambulance from the Jackson Women's Health Organization (JWHO) -- also known as the last abortion clinic in Mississippi.

The state attempted to close this facility last year after new regulations were signed into law which required abortionists to obtain admitting privileges at local hospitals. When Norman was unable to convince any hospital to allow him those privileges, the clinic owner, Diane Derzis, brought a lawsuit against the state claiming that the new law targeted her facility to force closure. In addition, U.S. District Judge Daniel P. Jordan ruled that the state could not enforce the law until the lawsuit was decided. Now a woman is in the hospital.

This incident comes on the heels of yet another legal debacle involving Bruce Norman.

Dana Cody, Executive Director of Life Legal Defense Foundation comments, "Just three days previous, Norman and Derzis stood in court for running an illegal abortion clinic in Birmingham."

The Alabama Department of Public Health recently brought a lawsuit against Norman and Derzis for continuing to operate in what used to be the New Woman All Women abortion facility. However, Norman claims he is running a 'private practice,' and is not required to be licensed or regulated by ADPH. Judge Joseph Boohaker is expected to give a decision by Friday.

"The only place Bruce Norman should be operating is prison!" said Troy Newman of Operation Rescue. "Alabama is well on its way to having its own Gosnell."

Rev. Terry Gensemer, Director of CEC For Life, also commented, "If Judge Boohaker allows Bruce Norman to continue practicing, the lives of Alabama women could be put in severe jeopardy. In 2012, Norman landed three Alabama women in the hospital in just one day. Now a woman in Mississippi has been harmed. It's only a matter of time before a woman loses her life."

Sue Turner of Alabama Physicians for Life adds, "This would never be tolerated for physicians in any respectable area of medicine, and should not be tolerated from the abortion industry in our state."
