Framework for Engaging the LGBT Conversation
Contact: Kate Wallace, Operations Manager, Wesleyan Holiness Consortium, 626-208-5502, WHCoperations@yahoo.com

GLENDORA, Calif., Sept. 9, 2015 /Standard Newswire/ -- The Wesleyan Holiness Consortium has just released a document entitled "Gracefully Engaging the LGBT Conversation." For over 14 months the WHC has been working on the formation of a framework to inform engagement with the growing LGBT conversation.  It is designed to inform the thinking of Christian leaders and help them guide churches and schools in a manner that is deeply rooted in the Wesleyan Holiness spiritual heritage.

This is not intended to be an answer to each situation.  Rather, it is designed to provide a framework for thinking in dealing with individual circumstances.  The paper begins with the clear declaration proactive engagement which is a hallmark of the historic holiness movement which engaged other social issues in the past with a similar passion for shaping the culture.

The paper has involved over 30 individuals from a variety of denominations and fields of expertise.  The process of developing it included private conversations, small focus groups, a large group of pastors, regional denominational leaders, a university diversity council, and finally a special WHC Study Group to refine the final outcome.

The document may be downloaded at the WHC website along with other documents that may provide a better understanding of the Wesleyan Holiness stream of the church.

Kevin Mannoia, Chair of the Wesleyan Holiness Consortium says of the new release, "It is our earnest desire for this to be a useful tool in working with pastors and other leaders as we seek to lean into this contemporary issue with deep confidence and gentle peace."
