Orphaned and Abandoned Kenyan Babies Find Hope, Homes
Contact: Rachel Elwood, Media Relations, World Gospel Mission, 765-671-7255, mediarelations@wgm.org

MEDIA ADVISORY, Nov. 17 /Standard Newswire/ --Amidst the devastating AIDS epidemic in Africa that has orphaned over one million children, the Africa Gospel Church Baby Center, in partnership with World Gospel Mission, is making a difference and creating hope by giving orphans a home, nourishing them back to health, and assisting with their eventual adoption into Kenyan homes.

Founded by Africa Gospel Church and World Gospel Mission, the AGC Baby Center seeks to provide a temporary home and lots of love for babies who have been orphaned or abandoned, including those who are HIV-positive. Once the babies are nourished back to health and are strong enough to be placed in a home, the AGC Baby Center assists in the adoption process.

Since January of 2009, the AGC Baby Center has found homes for 20 babies and is currently providing care for an additional 30 with the help of paid staff and local church volunteers. On average, the center takes in a baby every two weeks.

"We want to address those issues within families and society that result in babies being orphaned and/or abandoned," said Dennis Johnson, vice president of International Ministries at World Gospel Mission. "We accomplish this by recruiting church volunteers and supporters, finding stable homes for the children, and promoting healthy living."

World Gospel Mission is mobilizing believers in the United States who want to partner with the AGC Baby Center. To find out how you can help, visit www.wgm.org/kenya or if you would like to travel to Kenya as a volunteer, click here.
