FLEMINGTON, New Jersey, July 24 /Standard Newswire/ -- At the first ever Revelation Generation battle of the bands competition two local bands were chosen to play at the third annual festival this Labor Day Weekend. I am Alpha and Omega and Reilly beat out eight other bands that competed at the all day RevGen Breakout competition held at Safe Haven Café in Somers Point, NJ. Close to 500 fans came out to support the top ten bands who competed to play alongside Revelation Generation's all star lineup on September 1, 2007 from 11 AM to 10 PM at Revelation Farms, Frenchtown, NJ.

I am Alpha and Omega, a local NJ band comprised of six dedicated musicians, was the top voted band on the Revelation Generation MySpace contest. The popular hardcore band demonstrated its versatility by playing an acoustic set at the RevGen Breakout competition. The performance, along with their testimony, led them to win a coveted spot on the Revelation Generation Philadelphia Stage with top rock bands MXPX, Skillet, Emery, Norma Jean, The Almost, and Falling Up. The more traditional pop and CCM fans rooted for the band Reilly, who won a spot on the New York Stage with Newsboys, Jars of Clay, Brian Littrell, Nicole C Mullen, Grits, Building 429 and Phil Keaggy. Lead by Rutgers University graduate John Reilly, the band is heralded as one of the top indie bands in the country.

"RevGen Breakout was a tough competition and we judges had a hard time deciding on just one winner. I am Alpha and Omega and Reilly were both deserving of the top title and the opportunity to play on the Rev Gen stage. These two New Jersey bands will be able to appeal to every type of music fans at this year's festival," said Jason DelaCruz, member of the Revelation Generation Grassroots team. "All the bands worked extremely hard for the competition and we can't wait to see the two winners on stage in September."

The top ten bands were previously selected to compete in an online contest on the Revelation Generation MySpace page. The ten finalists performed in front of a panel of five judges which included reps from Safe Haven, Revelation Generation and DJ Big Base Bill from WXGN 90.5 in Ocean City, NJ. The bands were critiqued on their initial MySpace votes, fan popularity, stage performance, testimony and stage presence, lyrics and musicianship.

In addition to seeing the RevGen Breakout winners and top notch performances at Revelation Generation, ticket holders will hear from several guest speakers including Ron Luce, President and founder of Teen Mania Ministries. The event will also offer festival favorites such as the worship tent, children's activities, games, inflatable rides, and extreme sports, as well as the large local vendor tent offering food, drinks, apparel, and other goods.
