TIRANA, Albania, July 30, 2025 /Standard Newswire/ — In a historic display of unity and purpose, the majority of evangelical churches in Tirana, Albania—a nation once under communist rule where Christianity was banned—joined together with Palau for TiranaFest, a two-day evangelistic festival held June 27–28 in the heart of the city at Skanderbeg Square.
This unprecedented partnership brought together hundreds of local believers to serve their city and share boldly the message of hope found in Jesus Christ. Throughout the weeklong campaign, more than 16,000 people were reached in person through a variety of outreach efforts, culminating in a vibrant, family-friendly festival. Over 1,000 individuals indicated a personal decision to follow Jesus.
The campaign, led by evangelists Andrew and Wendy Palau, included multiple gatherings leading up to the main event, such as a dinner for business and civic leaders, a women’s event, and an outreach at a local prison. These strategic events paved the way for the festival weekend, where the Gospel was clearly shared from the main stage in Skanderbeg Square, the heart of the city, which has foot traffic of thousands per day, locals as well as tourists, allowing Palau to reach people who may have never come to a Christian event otherwise.
“It’s amazing to see what God is doing here in Tirana,” said Andrew. “This is a city that was once closed to the Gospel, and now we’re watching the Church rise up with boldness and unity to share the love of Jesus in the public square. We’ve seen so many hearts open, and I know the best is yet to come for Tirana, Albania!”
In addition to a dynamic music lineup, TiranaFest featured a lively kids’ area with face painting, balloon animals, and a clown show, as well as a thrilling BMX stunt performance by the Stunt Dudes. Each night concluded with a compelling Gospel message from Andrew, inviting the crowd to place their trust in Jesus Christ.
On top of the events that took place on the ground in Tirana, our team also spearheaded an innovative digital evangelism strategy, sharing the Good News of Jesus through targeted social media ads. As of the time of reporting, more than 13,800 people throughout Albania had visited a Gospel presentation online, with 1,079 indicating decisions for Jesus Christ.
In total, through the entire TiranaFest campaign, more than 2,000 individuals responded to the Gospel.
Following the festival, the Palau team is aiming to launch at least four Evangelism Teams throughout Albania to sustain Gospel momentum throughout the nation. One of the local leaders even shared, “We're happy to see that [Palau is] not coming here and leaving. We have a long-term plan and strategy to continue what they have already planted here. We're looking forward to keeping evangelism going through the Evangelical Alliance, through the local churches and pastors all across the country.”
As local leaders continue this long-term work of discipleship, follow-up, and evangelism, the Palau team looks ahead to similar outreach campaigns in cities around the world, including upcoming festivals in Reno, Nevada; Harare, Zimbabwe; Rosario, Argentina; and more.
