O.C. Food Event Provides Hope for Haiti - Hundreds of Local Volunteers Prepare Food for Starving Overseas

Contact: Brian Grant, Kids Around the World, 949-245-9259

SAN CLEMENTE, Calif., Nov. 5, 2013 /Standard Newswire/ -- Kids Around the World, an international relief and development agency, located in San Clemente, CA is hosting its 3rd annual Hope For Haiti food-packing event on Saturday, November 9th.

Haiti, the poorest country in the Western Hemisphere, is also the 3rd hungriest country in the world. Most Haitians subsist on less than $1.00 of food each day. Following the massive earthquake of 2010, millions continue to live in extreme poverty and in need of aid.

This Saturday hundreds of volunteers from throughout Orange County will gather at Kids Around the World in San Clemente to help make a difference. Volunteers will work in assembly line style preparing and packaging rice and soy-based meals with supplements of protein, vitamins and minerals. The event will include activities for children, raffle prizes and lunch for volunteers.

Open to families, churches, businesses and individuals, this is an opportunity for the Orange County community to support a critical need and have fun in the process. For more information and to register, interested volunteers should visit: kidsaroundtheworldevents.com.

For only 25 cents per meal, Kids Around the World is able to package and ship emergency meal kits globally and is approaching 10,000,000 meals distributed worldwide. In addition to emergency food relief the agency also provides teacher training and leads volunteer-driven playground building projects in developing communities around the world. Over 300 playgrounds have been built in 60 different countries.

Kids Around the World is a registered 501c(3) and is funded primarily through private contributions. For information on partnering in their efforts, please contact Brian Grant, Vice President of Development.
