4 Winds Christian Athletics Disapproves of the International Olympic Committee's LGBT Policies Decided on This Week
Contact: 4 WINDS, 608-469-7956

MADISON, Wis., Dec. 10, 2014 /Standard Newswire/ -- The International Olympic Committee (IOC) unanimously approved a LGBT non-discrimination policy on Monday. The policy supposedly will stop the bullying of LGBT individuals.

4 WINDS sports minister Steve McConkey believes this will allow the IOC to discriminate against Christian athletes and coaches who believe homosexuality is a sin.

Under Principle 6, the new clause says there should be no discrimination "of any kind, such as race, color, sex, sexual orientation, language, religion, political or other opinion, national or social origin, property, birth or other status."

Steve McConkey, President of the sports ministry 4 WINDS, has fought the International Olympic Committee since 2003. During 2003, he was the only sports minister publicly protesting the IOC's decision to allow transgender athletes in the Olympics.

Steve personally called the United States Olympic Committee (USOC) and the IOC members in the United States. His efforts proved futile as transgenders were allowed in the Olympics.

Then in 2013, he stood against the USOC when they were the first country to pass LGBT non-discrimation policies in response to Russia's treatment of homosexuals before the 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi, Russia.

"I believe that Russia overstepped its boundaries when targeting homosexuals," says Steve McConkey. "However, what about Christian athletes and coaches who believe homosexuality is a sin. Will they be persecuted for their beliefs if they state this in public? The IOC should do what they require the Olympic athletes to do - stay out of politics."

After the IOC's 2003 transgender policy, the floodgates were opened. Recently, Minnesota became the thirty-third state to approve of transgenders in high school sports. Now, a male can compete as a female on all teams.

Steve McConkey is the President of 4 WINDS. Steve and his wife started working in world-class track and field ministries in 1981, beginning with Athletes in Action. Eventually, they started 4 WINDS in 1988. In 2014, 4 WINDS expanded to all sports. Steve regularly appears on worldwide radio and is frequently quoted in articles throughout the world. He operates BigPlanetWatch.com and TrackandFieldReport.com. Steve has a Master of Public Health from Western Kentucky University and a BS-Public Health from Minnesota State University. He became a Christian in 1976 after reading the New Testament. Steve was born in Des Moines, Iowa, but moved to NW Wisconsin after the sixth grade.
