Recently, leaders from both organizations traveled to Mexico City for the launch of the Biblia de América audio Bible, which is the most widely-used Spanish translation in Latin America.  A Catholic-approved translation, the recording was endorsed by the Vatican and the ceremony was officiated by Cardinal Rivera, head of the Mexico archdiocese.  The launch brought an audience that crossed denominational boundaries as David Mimms -- an ROI board member from Georgia who is a Southern Baptist -- and other Protestants in attendance joined the Cardinal in celebrating the release.  Their commonality is the strong desire to provide God’s Word to 300 million Spanish speakers in Latin America.

Of note, Mimms' son-in-law, Leo Terrazas, is from Mexico and is the voice of the narrator for the book of Jude in the recording.

Made up of prominent Christian business leaders, the ROI board was excited to see how Faith Comes By Hearing's work as an ecumenical organization allows broader access to provide the Word of God throughout the world.  As an example, FCBH is discussing the possibility of providing the Biblia de América recording to soldiers in the Mexican army via Military BibleSticks -- an outreach they have provided to the American military since 2008.  The ministry currently has contacts in Mexico that are researching funding for this possible partnership.
