Morocco Strengthens Its Partnership with Guinea-Bissau

ROCKVILLE, Md., May 30, 2015 /Standard Newswire/ -- HM King Mohammed VI arrived, on Thursday, May 28, in Bissau, for an official visit to the Republic of Guinea-Bissau, second leg of an African tour that will also lead the Sovereign to Côte d'Ivoire and Gabon.

 

At the Osvaldo Vieira international airport of Bissau, the sovereign was greeted by the President of the Republic of Guinea Bissau, His Excellency José Mario Vaz.

 

Afterward, HM the King accompanied by President José Mario Vaz chaired at the presidential palace in Bissau, a ceremony to present the agricultural partnership between the Kingdom of Morocco and the Republic of Guinea-Bissau.

 

The agriculture partnership will facilitate the exchange of best practices in ten specific areas, including rice cultivation, artificial insemination and the improvement of livestock breeds, irrigation, fertilizer use, agricultural research and laboratory skills, public-private development of farmland, and more.

 

Morocco's King Mohammed VI and Guinea-Bissau President Jose Mario Vaz also signed 16 cooperation agreements in the areas of security and local governance, investment protection, marine fisheries and aquaculture, infrastructure technical assistance, mining, renewable energy development, vocational training exchanges, and others.


In addition, HM King Mohammed VI, Commander of the Faithful, donated, on Friday, May 29, in Bissau, 10,000 copies of the Holy Quran to the authorities in charge of managing religious affairs in Guinea Bissau.

 

Issued by the Mohammed VI Foundation for the publishing of the Holy Quran, the donated copies will be distributed in different mosques across Guinea-Bissau.

 

HM King Mohammed VI, accompanied by Guinea-Bissau's president José Mario Vaz, also handed, on Friday at the National Simao Mendes Hospital in Bissau, a royal donation made of consignments of medicines and medical-technical equipment for the Guinea-Bissau's national anti-AIDS secretariat (SNLS).

 

The royal donation offered by the Mohammed VI Foundation for Sustainable Development is part of laudable initiatives by HM the King who is tirelessly striving to bestow a human aspect on Morocco's solidarity with the continent's countries and south-south cooperation.

 

This royal donation is composed of over two tons of medicines to treat AIDS-related diseases and infections. It comprises also a batch of 3.5 tons of medical-technical equipment for diagnosis, including radiology material, monitoring medical material (ICU), mother/child medical material and laboratory material, as well as 4.5 tons of medical fungible.
